Huf Portuguesa Collaborates with Management by Missions and Corporate Governance Department

Huf Portuguesa, a company in the automotive industry, has demonstrated its support for the research carried out by the UIC's Department of Management by Missions and Corporate Governance.

In accordance with the agreement signed on Thursday, 2 May 2013, the company has committed to three years of collaboration with the department. The collaboration will mainly involve attending the regular meetings organized by the department and performing a diagnostic measurement of intangible assets; Huf may also have access to the department’s online knowledge centre.   

Huf Hülsbeck & Fürst is a company that develops and manufactures mechanical and electronic locking systems, lock sets, and anti-theft and remote-control devices for the automotive industry. With penetration levels in excess of 23% for locking systems, Huf is the world leader in this market segment.

Founded in Velbert, Germany, in 1908, Huf was the first company to supply lock sets to Mercedes Benz (now Daimler AG) in 1920. It now employs approximately 4,500 people in 12 different countries.

The Department of Management by Missions and Corporate Governance, directed by Dr Carlos Rey from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, offers a new management approach that enhances the traditional approach of objective-based management. The system it proposes places objectives at the service of the mission, while promoting staff commitment to this mission.

The department’s research has enjoyed initial support from six companies in different areas of industry and which have committed to this new management model: Jiménez-Maña (the main sponsor) from the automotive industry, Semillas Fitó from the agricultural industry, Kern Pharma from the pharmaceutical industry, Aitex from the textile industry, JJC Contratistas Generales from the construction industry, and Industrial Química del Nalón from the chemical industry.
