Humanities students travel to Tuscany
About thirty students of the faculty visited northern Italy this January. Accompanied by Dean Judith Urbano, they had the opportunity on this trip to know some of the most emblematic cities of the region
In January, a group of students from the Faculty of Humanities travelled to Italy, specifically to the Tuscany region, to get to know first-hand sites full of history such as Florence, Pisa and Bologna. Like every year, the destination was chosen by the students themselves, who were able to enjoy five days of community. The faculty promoted and organised this trip, planning the schedule of cultural visits that took students through some of the most important centres of art, culture and history. And again, the students were accompanied by the dean of Humanities and professor of Art History at UIC Barcelona, Judith Urbano.
The trip went from Bologna to Pisa, and much of the journey was spent in Florence, where students visited places such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery, the Bargello Museum, the Medici Chapel and many more locations. The future humanity majors were able to see in person some of the great works of Boticelli, Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo and Brunelleschi, among many other classical artists.
Ïu Guardiola, a Humanities student, described the trip as a great cultural and personal experience: “We had the opportunity to visit some of the most famous art galleries in the world, visit museums, stroll through the beautiful cities of Tuscany… and it was also a wonderful opportunity to get to know my faculty mates a little better, make friends and become a little more like family. That was the best part of the trip,” the student explained recalling this unique university experience.
