Montserrat Gas and Pilar Lacorte, Director and Assistant Director, respectively, of the Institute of Advanced Family Studies, recently presented the paper “Evangelizing the Family: Educating, Supporting and Showing the Family as an Original Reality” in Rome.
On Thursday and Friday, 12-13 March 2015, the 19th Congress on Marriage and the Family was hosted by the Faculty of Law at the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce in Rome. Attendees reflected on the anthropological questions surrounding the family, which are of particular interest at this historic moment as the Church prepares its Synod on the Family.
In addition to presenting “Evangelizing the Family” with Lacorte, Gas also moderated a roundtable discussion on support for young married couples and families in crisis. Participants agreed on the need for this support, especially during the early years of the family life cycle. They offered several examples of what they considered effective practices being implemented in different parts of Italy and suggested that they may be successfully introduced in other countries, as well.
