Jordi Nadal: “Reading prepares you for the difficult times in your life”

Writer Jordi Nadal was our guest at UIC Barcelona for a literary meeting in which he spoke about the benefits of reading, based on his work Libroterapia.

Last Tuesday, 14 February, the founder of publishing house Plataforma and author of Libroterapia, Jordi Nadal, participated in a literary meeting organised by the Student Services and open to the whole university community

Nadal, who is also a columnist for La Vanguardia, highlighted the important role that reading can play at the different stages of a person’s life and career. “Literature brings a broader and more empathetic vision to people in their jobs, sharing new purposes, views and life stories,” the writer said.

The book Libroterapia collects the reflections, writings and thoughts of great writers such as Camus, Chekhov, Canetti or Emerson, each chapter relating to important themes in life like death, family love or loneliness.

During the meeting, Nadal also stressed the importance of educated ethical taste when choosing a good reading, and recommended The Plague and Memoirs of Hadrian, by Albert Camus and Marguerite Yourcenar respectively, to the students who participated in the session.

This event is part of the literary encounters promoted by the University’s Student Services.
