José Nart, head of the area of periodontology at the Faculty of Dentistry, new President of the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration (SEPA)
Dr Nart has been chosen as the top SEPA representative for the next three years, and will have Dr Alberto Monje and Dr Beatriz de Tapia, both lecturers in the Faculty of Dentistry, on his management team
On 19 May, Dr José Nart, head of the area of periodontology at the Faculty of Dentistry, was elected president of the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration (SEPA), at the annual general assembly held in Malaga. Dr Nart takes over from Dr Antonio Bujaldón, and for the next three years he will preside over the board of directors. He will be accompanied by a team formed by Dr Paula Matesanz as vice-president; Dr Francisco Vijande as general secretary; and Dr Olalla Argibay, Dr Ana Molina, Dr Alberto Monje and Dr Beatriz de Tapia as members.
As Dr Nart explained, “from the new board of directors we will work to continue strengthening periodontology as the foundation of dentistry, promoting the periodontal and general health of patients, always driven by the values that identify us: rigour, innovation, excellence, transparency and ethics”.
During the Congress, the Board of Trustees of the SEPA Foundation has also been renewed for the next three years, of which the professors of the Periodontics area of the School, Cristina Vallés and Andrés Pascual, will be members.
The Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration is well renowned within the European and international dental sector with more than 6,000 members. Projects and initiatives focused on the transfer of scientific evidence to all dental professionals are promoted to ensure clinical excellence and modernisation, as well as quality of care: putting the oral health of patients at the centre of dental care.
