Josep Delfí Guàrdia Speaks to Law Students About His Personal and Professional Life
Josep Delfí Guàrdia, the President of the Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Catalonia, spoke to Law students on Wednesday, 23 October 2013, on the topic «General and Specialized Further Education for Lawyers: My Personal Experience».
Delfí, the former Catalan Minister of Justice (2001-2002), gave tips to Law students on what they should do to become good lawyers, based on his own life and professional career.
He mentioned the importance of a sound education in the Humanities in addition to Law studies. He also stressed the need to work hard to earn good marks.
Delfí emphasized the need to maintain ties with the bar association and to participate actively in association activities, which can help round off lawyers' professional training.
After reviewing his professional career, Delfí shared one last piece of advice with the students: the legal profession calls for character and not just the desire to make money. "You have to like what you do", he concluded.
