Josep Maria Argimon is named as new Public Health secretary
Dr Argimon will combine his new position with teaching on the University Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management at UIC Barcelona
Dr Josep Maria Argimon, who currently teaches on the Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, has now been named Public Health secretary for the Government of Catalonia, substituting Dr Joan Guix.
Josep Maria Argimon holds a bachelor's degree in medicine and a PhD from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, as well as specialising in preventative medicine and public health at the Hospital Universitario de Bellvitge. Dr Argimon also holds a diploma in epidemiology and statistics from the Pierre et Marie Curie Paris IV (France) and two master’s degrees: one in evidence-based healthcare and epidemiology from the University of Oxford, and one in healthcare planning from the University of Wales (United Kingdom).
As an expert in healthcare management, Josep Maria Argimon has occupied several managerial positions in the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS) and in CatSalut. He has been director of the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS) since 2018, a position he dovetails with lecturing on the Master's Degree in Healthcare Management, where he teaches Healthcare Planning.
