Journalism Students Given Insider's View of Catalan Parliament

Third-year journalism students attended the presentation of University Parliament Week, which will be held from Monday to Friday, 15-19 July 2013. The students also spoke with Fernando Sánchez Costa, a Member of Parliament and UIC professor.

Patricia Martínez, from the Education Services area of the Catalan Parliament, invited the students to participate in University Parliament Week, which will be held at the parliament building from Monday to Friday, 15-19 July 2013. The objective of the event is to help students understand how the parliament works, its political function and structure, and the responsibilities of the people who represent it.

The week will be structured around a series of parliamentary work simulations in which the students will carry out political and institutional activities as though they were members of parliament. It will also include simulated parliamentary hearings with representatives from politics, parliament and academia.

The presentation was part of the subject Contemporary Legal Institutions, which is taught by Prof. Pere Buhigas. Afterwards, students were able to learn firsthand about what goes on in parliament from Fernando Sánchez Costa, a Member of Parliament and UIC professor.
