Journalist and lecturer Carlos Pérez de Rozas dies
He taught the Design and Photojournalism subjects as part of the Master’s Degree in Sports Journalism, the Postgraduate Degree in Sports Journalism and the Bachelors Degree in Sports Journalism in the Faculty of Communication Sciences
Photographer, journalist and lecturer Carlos Pérez de Rozas died over the summer. A third generation member of the well-known family of photographers and journalists, Pérez de Rozas was part of the founding team of El Periódico newspaper in 1978. He recently worked with Mundo Deportivo, the sports programme on the Esport3 TV channel and “The midnight club” on Catalunya Ràdio. Apart from his journalism work, Pérez de Rozas was involved in teaching, and gave classes at at Pompeu Fabra University, Ramon Llull University and at UIC Barcelona, where he started to teach during the 2010-2011 academic year.
He taught the Design and Photojournalism subjects as part of the Master’s Degree in Sports Journalism, the Postgraduate Degree in Sports Journalism and the Bachelors Degree in Sports Journalism in the Faculty of Communication Sciences at UIC Barcelona. During the past academic year, he also taught Sports Journalism and Ethics in Journalism as part of our Bachelors Degree in Journalism.
Pérez de Rozas began his professional career in 1970 at Destino magazine and between 1975 and 1986 was in charge of the design department at the Diario de Barcelona newspaper. As well as participating in founding El Periódico, Pérez de Rozas was also involved in setting up the Catalan edition of El País, and in 1989 he redesigned La Vanguardia, where he was art director and assistant director until 2008.
