Juan Trias de Bes, new member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors

Dr Juan Trias de Bes, director of the hARQware Chair and lecturer in the Area of Architectural Design at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, was recently invested as a numerary member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors (RAED). The ceremony took place on Thursday 26 October in the function room at Fomento del Trabajo.

During the event, Dr Trias de Bes gave a speech entitled “Barcelona, Urban Gallery”. On behalf of the RAED, numerary member Jaime Rodrigo de Larrucea, holder of a PhD in Law and Nautical Engineering, was charged with responding.

Juan Trias de Bes has a degree in Architecture from the Higher Technical School of Architecture in Barcelona. He founded his professional studio, TDB Arquitectura, in 1992 and has designed a number of institutional buildings, including the Sarrià University Residence, the seat of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, the central offices for Grífols Laboratories and the ESADE Business School in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona). In the field of building renovation, he has headed a series of projects such as Hotel Mandarín Oriental, the Convention Centre and ESADE institutional headquarters and Casa Burés, a collective housing project, all of which are located in Barcelona.

Dr Trias de Bes is director of the hARQware Chair, which aspires to innovate and develop new architecture-related information and communication technologies (ICTs), and a lecturer in the Area of Architectural Design at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.
