The “la Caixa” Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the UIC Barcelona Cuides Clinic and contributes to the improvement of its facilities

The collaboration agreement between the two entities will help to develop specific software for third-generation therapies

UIC Barcelona and the “la Caixa” Foundation, through CaixaBank, have signed a collaboration agreement to improve the facilities of the UIC Barcelona Cuides Clinic, which will increase the quality of the services offered to its patients. The agreement was formalised at the University’s Barcelona Campus, with Dr Alfonso Méndiz, rector of UIC Barcelona, and Patricia Trillo, director of the Centre for Institutions of the CaixaBank’s Barcelona Regional Office.

With this new agreement, the “la Caixa” Foundation will make possible the acquisition of different technological resources and materials that will allow the professional teams at Cuides UIC Barcelona to offer patients even more personalised care. Specifically, it will contribute to the development of a specific software that allows the application of third generation therapies, such as virtual reality, thanks to which both patients and family members can disconnect from the hospital environment and get away to environments that provide calmness and serenity.

In addition, collaboration between the two entities will also provide the Clinic with the necessary materials to carry out specific physiotherapy for palliative care, improve the therapeutic bath facilities and, finally, to add an occupational therapist to the human resource team who will be in charge of creating personalised treatment programmes. With this collaboration, the “la Caixa” Foundation adds to the donation made last year, which made the Clinic’s sensory room a reality.
