Lecturer Hernández discusses new theoretical models that analyse interreligious dialogue at an international conference

He took part as a researcher and speaker in the 35th Conference of the International Society for the Sociology of Religion

Joan Hernández, a lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities, recently took part as a researcher and speaker in the 35th edition of the Conference of the International Society for the Sociology of Religion (ISSR). Held in Barcelona, Hernández presented a research project entitled “Complex Systems Between Religions: Interreligious Dialogue”.

The presentation is part of his doctoral thesis, which addresses the creation of new theoretical models for understanding the relationships between religions. The presentation focused on establishing a framework for analysing the relationship between different religious groups, within a complex interreligious system. This helps shed light on the properties and processes of a system that cannot be reduced to the properties and processes of its constituent parts.

This is the third time that Barcelona has hosted the ISSR event. Present at this year’s edition, which took place from 9-12 July, were roughly 500 researchers from around the world.
