Lecturer Jaume Camps publishes “Corazón Educador”, an essay on vocation in education

The publication explores the intangible side of the professional life of a teacher which forms the cornerstone of this job.

Dr Jaume Camps, a lecturer in the Faculty of Education Sciences, recently published a book entitled “Corazón Educador” (The Heart of an Educator).  This is an essay containing an analysis of vocation in education and a study of the relationship between vocation in teaching, pedagogical love and educational intuition.

“In addition to a vocation for teaching, which helps teachers to be in tune with children and makes it easier for them to discover their needs, it is also customary for pedagogical love to appear, which manifests itself through an internal drive to provide recognition, affection and education to each child as a unique person”, explains the teacher. In his work, Camps concludes that “pedagogical love and educational intuition are at the heart of the educator’s vocation”. “By adding these two aspects to your didactic skills, you can ensure teachers become well-rounded professionals in one of the most complex and simultaneously most transcendental professions that exists,” says the teacher.

Jaume Camps is a researcher at the Research Group on Parenting, Equality and Work-Life Balance at UIC Barcelona, the mission of which is to focus on the benefits of organised, economically stable homes containing families well- versed in teaching children.
