Lecturer Manuel Flores, awarded the X Lluís Fina Prize

For his study entitled ‘The impact of health on wages: Evidence from Europe before and during the Great Recession’

Our lecturer from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at UIC Barcelona, Manuel Flores, was runner-up for the X Lluís Fina Prize awarded by the Spanish Association of Labour Economics. Flores was awarded for his ”The impact of health on wages: Evidence from Europe before and during the Great Recession study, published in Oxford Economic Papers and written with Melchor Fernández, a lecturer from the University of Santiago de Compostela, and Yolanda Pena-Boquete, a researcher from AYeconomics. 

The Scientific Committee of the Labour Economics Conference recognised “excellence in theoretical or applied research in the field of the Labour Economics” in the study carried out by the lecturer from the Faculty, which competed with papers published during 2019 and 2020. 

The Lluís Fina Prize from the Spanish Association of Labour Economics was set up in 2003 with the aim of honouring and rewarding the approach of Professor Lluís Fina i Sanglàs to the analysis of problems associated with the labour market.
