Lecturer Miquel Bastons publishes a book exploring personal missions and happiness
Logro mis objetivos..., pero ¿hago lo correcto? 22 respuestas para una ética en la toma de decisions explores making the right decision and the difference between achieving your goals and doing the right thing
Miquel Bastons, lecturer from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at UIC Barcelona, has published the book Logro mis objetivos..., pero ¿hago lo correcto? 22 responses on ethical decision-making (‘I‘m achieving achieve my goals... but am doing it right? 22 responses on ethical decision-making’), which reflects on personal missions and happiness, and analyses the difference between achieving your goals and doing the right thing.
For Bastons, doing the right thing is a three-fold task that calls for specific skills and the ability to resolve certain conflicts. In his book he proposes a decision-making framework that allows us to differentiate between and face dilemmas and false dilemmas, and address three central issues in the ethics of individual and collective development: responsibility, sustainability and solidarity.
The book’s conclusion states that that doing the right thing involves treating others as people and explores how it is done and what skills are needed in the context of an organisation.
