Lecturers Alberto Estévez, Ana Cocho and Diego Navarro take part in the 17th edition of the EGA International Conference

The results of the congress, held at the University of Alicante, were published in book format by the prestigious Springer publishing house

UIC Barcelona lecturers Alberto Estévez, Ana Cocho and Diego Navarro took part in the 17th edition of the international conference of the journal Expresión Gráfica Arquitectónica (EGA), hosted by the University of Alicante between 31 May and 1 June.

Ana Cocho and Diego Navarro featured on the first day of the congress with a talk entitled “Colourimetry as a strategy for geometry conversion: Evo-Devo patterns”. Afterwards, lecturer Alberto Estévez took part in the speakers’ panel on 1 June with a talk entitled “Digital tools for architectural conceptions”.

As part of the seventeenth edition of this event, the organisers of the EGA Conference sought to hinge discussion on the role of drawing and, in general, plotting tools in the evolution of Architecture and its language over time.

Other participants in this year’s international conference included internationally renowned architects Peter Eisenman, Alberto Campo Baeza, Gernot Riether and Pablo Lorenzo-Eiroa.

The results of the congress were compiled into a book published by the American publisher Springer, which specialises in academic books and journals. In addition, the proceedings of the congress were published in two volumes titled De trazos, huellas e improntas. The volumes set out the research findings of the lecturers who participated in the conference, including the project conducted by the director of the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, Josep Lluís i Ginovart, and researcher Mónica López Piquer, entitled “La simulación de las trazas góticas de la catedral de Tortosa” [Simulation of the Tortosa Cathedral’s Gothic tracery].
