L’Hospitalet de Llobregat hosts the closing ceremony for the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture Final Degree Project exhibition
The exhibition opened in mid-July in the L’Harmonia space in Hospitalet de Llobregat Museum
The exhibition of the final degree projects (TFG) crated by UIC Barcelona School of Architecture students was held on 30 September. Entitled “L’H: Hub of Hubs. Social challenges and urban reprogramming”, the exhibition was open for two and a half months in the L’Harmonia space in Hospitalet de Llobregat Museum, and was visited by hundreds of people.
Lecturer Iñaki Baquero welcomes all the attendees to the closing ceremony of the exhibition. Lecturer Miquel Lacasta then gave a lecture entitled “Social challenges and urban reprogramming: Teaching strategies for contemporary reflection”, in which he gave an overview of the history of the Final Degree Projects produced at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, highlighting the projects’ rigour and pre-professional level, two factors that contribute to labour insertion for new architects. “The objective reality is that our students find jobs around the world and this shows us that our model works,” he pointed out.
Newly-graduated architects Javi Solans, Valentina Risemberg and Mireia Acacio then descrsibed their proposals for the city of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat developed within the framework of their Final Degree Projects.
The closing address was given by the director of the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, Josep Lluís i Ginovart. “The tempo in this school is different from that of other schools in the surrounding area. The limited space leads to a creative tension between the lecturers and students that occurs in very few schools around the world,” he said.
The exhibition “L’H: Hub of Hubs. Social challenges and urban reprogramming” was inaugurated on July 15 with the mayor of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Núria Marín, in attendance. The exhibition consisted of almost twenty projects created by Bachelor's Degree in Architecture final year students, and was set up in four areas around l’Hospitalet de Llobregat with the aim of boosting urban restructuring and promoting a transition towards a city model that is more in line with the social and environmental needs of the 21st century.
