On 3 April, Dr Lluís Giner, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, was inducted into the Royal European Academy of Doctors in an event held in the function room at Fomento del Trabajo
During the induction ceremony, the new member delivered an admission speech entitled “Los dientes del comer al lucir: evolución de los materiales odontológicos y cambios sociales”. The reply on behalf of the Royal Corporation was given by Dr Pedro Clarós, numerary member and vice-chairman of the Board of Governors.
Lluís Giner holds a PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona, where he also worked as a professor of Prosthetics and co-director of the Postgraduate Degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Prosthetics. Since 2011, he has been the dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at UIC Barcelona, where he has also held the position of director of the Area of Biomaterials and Prosthetics, vice-dean of Research and co-director of the MIS Chair in Regenerative Dentistry. Dr Giner is also the secretary of the Spanish Conference for University Deans and an active member of all major scientific societies within the field of Dentistry, including SEPES, SEMO, SEPA, IADR, ADEE and Pierre Fauchard Academy.
