Manel Peribáñez, a School of Architecture graduate, took part as a speaker in the professional forum "Upgrading and Renovating Health Centres"

On 22 October, Grupo Vía organised the professional forum "Upgrading and Renovating Health Centres" at the Ámbito Cultural venue in El Corte Inglés on Barcelona's Portal de l'Àngel.

Manel Peribañez was on hand to present BCQ Arquitectura's project for expanding and refurbishing the Dr Pujol i Capsada Primary Care Centre.

The seminars, through input from managers, consultants and architects, touched upon the keys to upgrading, renovating and expanding health centres, as well as major recent and ongoing projects. Event participants included Dr Iván Mañero, BIS Structures, Estudi PSP, Vitaller Arquitectura, Manel Peribáñez from BCQ Arquitectes, Lluís Tejero Arquitectos and Ona Arquitectes. It was sponsored by El Corte Inglés Business Division, Tarkett and Knauf.

Manel Peribáñez from BCQ Arquitectes took the stand during the third part of the conference. Manel explained the expansion and renovation of the Dr Pujol i Capsada Primary Care Centre in El Prat de Llobregat. The centre marked a major step forward in health management for the Sant Cosme neighbourhood in El Prat de Llobregat and included a large garden area near the entrance. In this way, the new healthcare centre has also played an important civic and structural role in the neighbourhood. The centre's notable features include the amount of light and outdoor visibility of the medical offices, waiting rooms and interior areas.

After the speeches came a debate on the importance of renovating current healthcare facilities and increasing sector activity, both in the private and public spheres; the main improvements required to modernise and update the centres; the importance of making the centres more energy efficient; new patient requirements; and the keys to humanising hospitals and clinics.
