Maria Cerrato invited to train PhD students in the Faculty of Business Sciences (Seville)

One of our lecturers from the Faculty of Education, Maria Cerrato Lara, gave a workshop to guide doctoral students through the writing process for their theses at the Faculty of Business Sciences at Pablo de Olavide University (in Seville).

Cerrato is an expert in training oriented towards improving the writing process for new researchers.  In 2014 she defended her thesis which included a look at the perceptions and difficulties expressed by doctoral students in relation to scientific writing based on a sample of 631 doctoral students from 37 Spanish universities. During her postdoctoral stay at the University of Helsinki she extended her study by including a Finnish sample in her data and demonstrating how certain cultural aspects influence our writing competences.

As a result of her theses she has had the opportunity to participate in various training courses, out of which a seminar given in the Department of Communication at Aalto University (Finland) should be highlighted. Also a workshop for young researchers as part of Earls Conference on Learning and Development in Early Childhood, at the University of Porto should be mentioned, as well as courses taught as an invited lecturer at Oxford Brookes University in the department of Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. She also taught courses in the Oxford Centre for Staff and Learning Development (OCLSD) and the Faculty of Healthcare and Life Sciences.

Recently Cerrato was also given the chance to teach at the Department of Education at the University of Oxford, one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
