María Fernández Capo Named New Vice Rector for Academic Organization and Faculty

In January 2012, Dr. Jaume Armengou, the Vice Rector of Academic Organization and Faculty, went to the United States to do research in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, for one year.

For this reason, the UIC's University Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr. María Fernández Capo before Christmas to run the Vice Rector's Office in Dr. Armengou's absence.

María Fernández Capo has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the Universitat Ramon Llull and a doctorate degree from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. Since 1998, she has formed part of the UIC's Area of Psychology and Psychiatry and teaches General Psychology classes in the Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dentistry and Humanities degree programmes.

Her research focuses on human ageing, the meaning of life and psychotherapeutic strategies. She also combines her academic work at the UIC with her clinical psychology practice for adults at a private firm.
