Monseigneur Javier Echevarría, of the Opus Dei prelature, has passed away

Just after nine in the evening on 12 December Monseigneur Javier Echevarría, of the Opus Dei prelature, passed away in Rome. He was 84 years old. 

He visited our Barcelona campus during the closing ceremony of the Family Conference held on 17 May 2008. On that occasion he blessed the image of the Holy Virgin which is now located in the garden.

The funeral masses will be held today at 13:05 in the chapel on our Sant Cugat campus and tomorrow Wednesday at 14:05 in the chapel on our Iradier campus.

UIC Barcelona holds an agreement with the Opus Dei Prelature based on which the spiritual guidance it offers to students, PAS and PDI staff has been entrusted to this institution, which forms part of the Catholic Church.
