More than 1,000 professionals attend the 8th Conference on Updates in Dentistry at UIC Barcelona
The Dr Miquel Cortada Award was also presented as part of this event, which was held online for the first time in its history. Adi Samuel Gelosa and Ettore Amerio received the awards for best Final Bachelor's Degree Project and best Final Master's Degree Project respectively.
On 4 October, the Faculty of Dentistry held the 8th Conference on Updates in Dentistry. Held online for the first time, more than 1,000 virtual attendees streamed the event from all over the world and took part in a series of seminars aimed at dentists, hygienists and assistants.
A total of 36 renowned experts were involved in this year’s event, giving talks on the main specialities: periodontics, surgery, restoration, endodontics, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry, healthcare management, comprehensive and preventive dentistry. “With an updated format adapted to the current pandemic, this year’s Conference on Updates in Dentistry has given us the chance to share knowledge and experiences with alumni and colleagues from all over the world, as well as hearing news from the sector’s leading companies”, explained Dr Lluís Giner, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.
The Dr Miquel Cortada Awards were also presented during the 8th Conference on Updates in Dentistry, in recognition of the best Final Bachelor’s Degree Project and Final Master's Degree Project. The first award went to Adi Samuel Gelosa for his study Comparativa de la cantidad de estructura dental tallada mediante la preparación horizontal y la preparación vertical para Biological Oriented Preparation Technique y Biological Oriented Preparation Technique modificada en dientes anteriores. Estudio in vitro. The award for best Final Master's Degree Project went to Ettore Amerio, alumni from the Master's Degree in Periodontics, for his paper Peri-implant bleeding on probing: impact of smoking on its diagnostic accuracy.
