More than 30 international companies at the ninth edition of the Business Administration - Law Career Forum

Master's and final year undergraduate students were able to meet several of the leading companies in the national and international market to encourage networking and help them gain access to the professional world

On 16 October, the University’s Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences held the ninth edition of the Business Administration-Law Career Forum, a fair of companies, professional businesses and law firms where Master's and final year undergraduate students participated as a way of networking and boosting their access to the professional world. At the conference, 35 of the most important companies in the sector were present, many of them global companies and leaders of the domestic and international market.

Students were able to learn more about the companies and talk with the company representatives—many of them former students of UIC Barcelona—about career opportunities and about the skills companies are currently asking for from the candidates. “We are looking for people who are resolute and able to adapt to dynamic environments, very empathetic and eager to learn and explore new territories’, explains Daniela Baiart, from Danone. Likewise, companies emphasise the need for a positive attitude, says Abel Mañas, of KPMG: “We are looking for people who are eager to learn, curious and who join the company with enthusiasm and motivation”.

With this initiative, UIC Barcelona once again demonstrates the constantly growing links between business and the university and the importance of keeping students in regular contact with the business world, right from the start of their degree course. “The Career Forum is a fantastic opportunity for us, because we can get to know the main law firms first hand and they can also get to know us. What's more, the range of areas is very broad and covers the different profiles of law,” says Belén Aporta, a student on the UIC Barcelona Master's Degree in Law and Legal Practice (MUAP).

The Career Forum has benefited from the collaboration of leading companies in their respective business areas. This year, the participating companies were Andersen, Apartool, AVQ Legal, Bcombinator, Baker & McKenzie, BDO, Banco Mediolanum, Bové Montero y Asociados, Broseta, Bunge, Cases & Lacambra Abogados, Codorniu, Crowe, Cuatrecasas, Danone, Dauss Abogados, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Durán-Sindreu, EY, Garrigues, Grant Thornton, Hotel Arts Barcelona, KPMG, Page Personnel, Papernest, Pérez-Llorca, PWC, Ramón y Cajal Abogados, RSM Spain, Talent Point, TD Synnex, Ukio, Uría Menéndez and Volotea.

UIC Barcelona has an internship agreement with over 5,000 companies and boasts a graduate employment rate of 93.75%, according to AQU Catalunya.
