The Faculty of Dentistry has organized this one-day conference for the last six years with the aim of encouraging professionals in the various fields of dentistry to update their knowledge on a regular basis. The most recent edition was held on Saturday, 5 October 2013, on the Sant Cugat campus.
The novelty of the 2013 edition was the fact that it was open to the public for the first time. Consequently, professors, students and alumni from the Faculty took part alongside dental sector professionals.
A total of more than 430 people attended lectures given by forty-eight speakers. In addition, thirteen students who had been awarded prizes for papers presented at other conferences were given the opportunity to present their papers to the conference.
Sponsored by twenty-three companies related to the dental industry, the one-day conference was divided into different sections according to the areas of dental specialization targeted in the lectures: dentists, dental assistants and hygienists, and dental technicians. There were also demonstrations and workshops.
During the conference, the Miquel Cortada Award for Scientific Excellence during the 2012-2013 academic year was given to Josefina Garcia Binimelis, a Master’s Degree student of Comprehensive Paediatric Dentistry.
