More than twenty students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry have been able to study abroad

Future dentists have been able to continue their studies in universities in different countries around the world thanks to the Erasmus+ Programme and bilateral study and work placement agreements

Taking part of your studies in another country is a unique experience that will allow you to grow both at a personal and an academic level.  Many students from the Faculty of Dentistry know this, which is why they have taken advantage of the mobility programmes offered by UIC Barcelona.

Throughout this academic year, which is now coming to an end, more than twenty Dentistry students studied over a semester in a university in another country thanks to the Erasmus+ Programme and bilateral study and work placement agreements.   The United States, countries in Latin America such as Chile, Peru and Mexico; and countries in Europe such Portugal, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, France or Germany were the destinations chosen this year by future dentists.  Out of all the universities, the most popular ones were the University of the Andes (Chile) and the University of San Martín de Porres (Peru).

“It was a wonderful experience” said Natalia Carranza, one of the students who travelled to Chile, “we made a lot of friends there and, at an academic level, we learned a lot”.  “We would like to encourage all of our classmates to take advantage of the mobility programmes in our university because getting to know other cultures and discovering how dentists are trained in another country is an experience that you don’t forget”.

On the other hand, Pau Galí spent the first semester of the academic year at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Mexico, one of the most well-known universities in Latin America.  “At the beginning it was scary to leave the bubble of your own city and environment, but in a short space of time I started to get to know people from all around the world who I felt at home with”.  Also “Mexico is a country that met my expectations.  Doing this exchange was an unforgettable experience which all happened in the blink of an eye.  I know I’ll be going back to Mexico soon”.

We already have twenty-two students from the Faculty who applied for and Erasmus+ grant or a bilateral work and study agreement for the next academic year 2019-2020.  Apart from the countries we already hold an agreement with, next year some Dentistry students will also continue their education at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon, and Pomeranian Medical University in Poland.
