New UIC Student Council Meets with Rector

On Tuesday, 10 December 2013, the Student Council, made up of students recently elected by the student bodies of both UIC campuses, had its first meeting with UIC Rector Pere Alavedra, Narcís Aguiló, the UIC Ombudsman, and Miriam Durán and Núria Rovira from Student Services.

The Student Council is a collegiate body made up of representatives elected by the delegates of each UIC centre and chosen by the students. This year, the student members of the Council are Anna Capella, Alejandro Martínez and Jordi de la Plaza for the Barcelona campus, and Miguel Vázquez, David Martínez and Laia Aceituno for the Sant Cugat campus.

One of the main objectives of the Council is to energize university life and to serve as a liaison between students and the university by communicating the ideas, suggestions and proposals that UIC students want to share. The meeting with UIC Rector Pere Alavedra and Ombudsman Narcís Aguiló was held to initiate contact and allow the new Student Council to outline its objectives for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The Rector encouraged the students to focus their professional careers, set clear objectives and always be ready to adapt to current market circumstances. The students expressed their general concerns and the specific ones of each faculty.
