Nine Professors Participate in Congress on Education and Development

The UIC presented eight papers, a poster and a symposium on educational practices for winning the fight against poverty at the «1st International Congress of Educational Sciences and Development». The congress was held in Santander from Tuesday to Friday, 8-11 October 2013.

In representation of the UIC research group SiRSU, Dr. Enric Vidal read the paper “Saving the Planet: A Survey of Habits and Values in Sustainability".

Professors Sergi Font, Carles del Pozo and Susanna Tarapiella presented the papers “The Dialogic Turn in the Learning Sciences: Dialogic Learning” and “Basic Skills in Primary Education: Background and Rationale".

In another paper, Drs. Albert Arbós, Sandra Racionero and Mireia Tintoré analysed the impact of teacher education as a practice for success. Dr. Tintoré and lecturer Elena Fontcuberta presented the poster “Mentoring in the Context of Primary School Education”.

Lastly, Dr. Arbós coordinated a symposium on educational practices for winning the fight against poverty. Four professors from the Faculty spoke at the symposium. Dr. Racionero discussed learning communities as a method of transforming education. Dr. Pere Puig focused on cases of success in education in the fight against poverty in developing countries. Dr. Tintoré analysed leadership types that facilitate improvements in educational communities. Dr. Arbós argued that the teacher’s scientific education is key for students' academic excellence.
