Nursing students organise the 10th Health Promotion Day

Organised by second-year Nursing students, the main objective of this initiative is to show young people in the third and fourth year of compulsory lower secondary (ESO), upper secondary and vocational training the importance of prevention and care to enjoy good physical and mental health

On 25 February, a new edition of the Health Promotion Day, which this year celebrated its 10th birthday, was held on the Sant Cugat Campus. Promoted by the Department of Nursing under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the activity was attended by nearly 70 boys and girls from third and fourth year of ESO from educational centres throughout Catalonia.

One more year, with this year’s slogan “What happens when you go too far?”, second-year Nursing students were in charge of recreating, several situations and scenarios where practical and visual workshops were held on the consumption of alcohol and drugs, bullying and abuse, cardiopulmonary resuscitation first aid, and social networks.

The organisers had the cooperation of first-year Nursing students, as well as the Emergency Medical Service (SEM).

Besides raising awareness among many young people all over Catalonia about the importance of prevention and maintaining healthy habits, Health Promotion Day allowed Nursing students to put their training into practice in community nursing.
