Office for sustainability publishes framework document to promote sustainability at UIC

The document outlines the general principles, values and objectives required to promote sustainability at the UIC.

As
an organization dedicated to research and knowledge transfer, the UIC is also
involved in the task of finding, disseminating and applying ethical
alternatives to the socioeconomic and environmental challenges faced by society
today. It is within this framework that the UIC is establishing a series of objectives
for promoting sustainability among the university community.

The
guidelines in the document include raising community awareness of the
environmental challenges involved in globalization; taking a sustainable
perspective in educational activities; and promoting teacher training
activities that enable teachers to include sustainability content in their classes
and to carry out educational activities on sustainability, including seminars,
conferences and workshops, that will complement students' education.

Administration
and services personnel and teaching staff from different areas of the
university helped draw up the document under the coordination of Dr. Sílvia
Albareda. It is aimed at the whole university community and can be found in the
Institutional Documents page of the UIC intranet.
