Once again, UIC Barcelona is one of the top 3 universities with most Resident Medical Intern passes

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is the Spanish university with the highest proportion of students who have passed the examination to become resident medical intern (MIR) in the last five years. with an average of 99%

According to data published by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Consumption, UIC Barcelona is again among the three Spanish universities with the highest rates of students reaching the cut-off mark for the MIR.

The 96.9% of UIC Barcelona graduates in Medicine have passed the MIR examination, coming third in the ranking after Universitat Pompeu Fabra University and the University of Oviedo. Dr Albert Balaguer, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences stated “These results give us a great deal of satisfaction as they show the excellent level of the five classes of Medicine that have graduated from our university.”

All those graduating in Medicine who want to specialise must pass the MIR examination. This year, 14,189 doctors took the examination, of which 6,796 have obtained a place. The study published by the Ministry also announced the marks obtained in the exam, and classified them into three groups: strong, medium and weak. Based on these figures, the Faculties of Medicine of UIC Barcelona and the University of Oviedo are the only two with less than 4% of the students in the group regarded as having "low results".

Dr Balaguer notes that the results obtained for the annual MIR examinations "reflects the high demand of teachers, the effort of students and our methodology, centred in the all-round training of future doctors and in the development of transversal competences.” The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is the Spanish university with the highest proportion of students who have passed the examination to become resident medical intern (MIR) in the last five years. with an average of 99.2%.
