Pablo Agnese, awarded Best Paper in the Area of Digital Transformation in Sports
Lecturer of UIC Barcelona Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences recognised at the 12th Ibero-American Congress of Sport Economics
On 3 June, at the 12th Ibero-American Congress of Sport Economics, Pablo Agnese, lecturer of Economics and Business Organisation of the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, received the award for Best Paper in the Area of Digital Transformation in Sports, for his work entitled "Tokenization in Sports. A Simple Variance Decomposition Analysis", an analysis on the so-called fan tokens and the sport entity financing.
Agnese, who focused on the study and dissemination of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, conveyed the idea that tokens depend more on the peculiarities of sports clubs, rather than on the variability of Bitcoin, the leading virtual asset in the growing blockchain ecosystems.
The prize, awarded by a scientific committee, was presented at the Ibero-American Congress of Sport Economics, an annual meeting held this year in Toledo, organised by the Spanish Society of Sports Economics (SEED) directed towards academics and professionals working in the field of sport management and economics.
