París a Parés, the exhibition curated by Dr Fuentes

The Barcelona-based gallery will host the exhibit from 1 December to 5 February

Sala Parés recently inaugurated the exhibition ‘París a Parés. À la recherche de la Ville Lumière’ [Paris at Parés: Searching for the City of Lights], curated by Faculty lecturer Sergio Fuentes, which will remain open to the public until 5 February.

According to Dr Fuentes, the exhibition “seeks to highlight the gallery’s importance in introducing modern painting into Catalonia, in some of its stages and through its most common historical exhibitions and artists”.

París a Parés is a journey whose story is based on a series of paradigmatic cases: from the Realists and subject painting to the almost experiential art of Bohemian Montmartre, the inter-war avant-garde and the return to traditional figuration. In all cases, the Catalans go à la recherche de la Ville Lumière.

Visitors will also have the chance to admire works from private collections and public institutions, some of which are virtually unknown. The discourse resolves around work by artists such as Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusiñol, Isidre Nonell, Joaquim Sunyer, Josep Amat, Rafael Durancamps and Josep Roca-Sastre. The exhibition also includes a series of piano concerts and French songs associated with the exhibition and the periods the works depict.
