As part of the University Master's Degree in Urgent and Emergency Care a simulation workshop for incidents with multiple victims was held

The activity was organised as part of the master's degree and included participation from SAMUR staff from Madrid

Within the framework of the University Master's Degree in Urgent and Emergency Care at UIC Barcelona a multi-victim incident simulation workshop was organised off-campus as part of the master's degree programme. The workshop was held over two days, and members of the Municipal Emergency and Rescue Service-Civil Protection (SAMUR) from Madrid City Council, the ambulance and health services company FALCK and the Emergency Medical System (SEM) all participated in it.

This activity was part of the learning process for 29 of our master’s degree students, and was able to be carried out due to participation from 12 instructors, as well as the involvement of 20 students from third and fourth year from the UIC Barcelona Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, who volunteered to act as patients for this exercise.

The activity was carried out using a mixed methodology, combining 20 hours of online training with 20 hours of face-to-face training. This format included the five-hour simulation workshop undertaken outside, where three types of drills took place: a car accident, a chemical factory accident, and a terrorist attack.

The University Master's Degree in Urgent and Emergency Care at UIC Barcelona is a programme that allows students to extend their knowledge, improve their skills and the attitudes that are necessary for patient care in urgent and emergency situations. It also allows them to obtain additional specific accreditations endorsed by the Catalan Resuscitation Council (CCR), the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMNT) and TASSICA Emergency, Training and Research S.A.
