Pau Gálvez receives the North America-Asia Pacific fellowship from the “la Caixa” Foundation to pursue a PhD in Toronto

This is the first time an alumnus from the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing has been granted this prestigious fellowship

Pau Gálvez, a former Nursing student at the University, was recently awarded one of the fellowships that the “la Caixa” Foundation awards to carry out postgraduate studies at universities in North America and the Asia-Pacific region. This important grant will allow him to study at the University of Toronto’s Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, where he will develop his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Dr Carles Muntaner, one of the world’s leading figures in public health.

“Thanks to this fellowship, I will have the chance to work with Dr Carles Muntaner on my doctoral thesis. More specifically, I will use the method known as Realist Multiple Explanatory Case Studies to analyse some of the intersectorial actions that take place in primary and community healthcare in Catalonia. This will help me detect the factors necessary for the long-term implementation of these actions in each territory”, explains Gálvez.

This is the first time that a former student from the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing has earned this fellowship from the “la Caixa” Foundation. The Foundation grants 55 fellowships to students from around the country, 10 of which are reserved for life and health sciences.
