Pedro Nueno: «I Have Never Seen a Good Project Die Due to Lack of Money»
IESE professor Pedro Nueno spoke at the 2012 Business Administration (ADE) graduation in a ceremony that also included the graduating classes from the Master's Programme in Business Administration and Production Systems and the Master's Programme in Human, Social and Legal Sciences.
The event
was presided over by Miquel
Bastons, the Dean of
the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. Toni Mora, the Assistant Dean of
the Faculty, was also present and emphasized how important it is for students
to choose their jobs wisely. He said, “You each need to choose a job for
yourself that will motivate you and fulfil you on a professional and human
level”.
During his
keynote address, professor Nueno placed great importance on training, not only the
training students have received from the university, but also the training they
will have to seek out. “You need to be training constantly”, the IESE professor
stated. “It is important for you not to lose your ties to the UIC because
training is fundamental in order to get ahead in the professional world”.
In
reference to the new graduates’ future, Pedro Nueno spoke about his experience
in the world of entrepreneurship. “When a project is well thought out, it moves
forward”, he stated. “I have never seen a project die due to lack of money. You
need to find the right channels, which are always there”.
Following
professor Nueno’s address, the student representatives from the three degree
programmes gave speeches in which they thanked their families as well as their
professors and everyone at the UIC. They also had words of encouragement for
their classmates. Manel González, the ADE class representative, said, “We didn’t
come to the UIC to do nothing, but to go out and change the world. Now it is
time for us to give back everything that we have received”.
After the
diplomas were presented to the students and the Dean of the Faculty thanked
those in attendance, the ceremony ended with the traditional singing of Gaudeamus igitur.
