Pedro Yúfera Gives Lecture on Key Aspects of Current Law Practice

The lecture by the Dean of the Bar Association of Barcelona, 'Practicing Law in the 21st Century', was part of the continuing education programme of the UIC Faculty of Legal Sciences.

The conference was attended by about seventy students and faculty
professors. UIC Rector Dr. Pere
Alavedra was also present and Dr. Javier
Junceda, the Dean of the
Faculty of Legal Sciences, introduced the speaker.

Yúfera’s lecture highlighted the key aspects of practicing law today:
internationalization, new technologies, ongoing training in an increasingly
competitive profession, entrepreneurship, respect for ethics, and the defence
human and social rights.

“The practice of law should be guided by ethics and accountability”,
said Yúfera, who encouraged students by saying they had “chosen the best
possible profession”.

Finally, Yúfera said, “Dedication, commitment, a proactive approach and
ongoing training should drive the future of the profession”.

This lecture series aims to help guide students in their careers, so
they can successfully face the challenges of the job market.
