Physiotherapy student Ewen Toulgoat takes third place in the Unirun 2022
Out of the 5,000 runners signed up, this UIC Barcelona student was one of the fastest runners of the Catalan university race
The eighth Unirun, the Catalan university race, took place on 13 March. Starting and finishing at the Parc del Fòrum, a total of 140 registered runners from UIC Barcelona, with the logos of the Catalan universities on their backs, completed the five kilometres of the track promoted by the ECU ECU (Catalan University Sport).
Third-year Physiotherapy student Ewen Toulgoat, won the bronze medal after finishing the race with a time of 15 minutes and 8 seconds. This is the second consecutive year that Toulgoat has finished on the podium of this popular race, making him one of the fastest students representing UIC Barcelona in the Unirun.
Laura Jackson, also studying Physiotherapy but in her second year, was the first female UIC Barcelona runner to cross the finish line in a time of 21 minutes and 26 seconds, making her the first registered female UIC Barcelona runner.
The race was also supported by the General Secretariat for Sport and Physical Acticity, Barcelona City Council and Sant Adrià de Besòs Town Council. The UNIRUN 2022 was sponsored by Adidas and organised by Gaudium Sports. It was a complete success to which 5,000 students signed up.
The UNIRUN 2022 Champions Cup was taken home by the University of Barcelona, with 427 points. The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya came second (760 points) and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra was ranked third (815 points) on the podium.
It should also be noted that this year the percentage of participation by gender was 53.3% men and 46.7% women, and the percentage of registered participants under 24 years of age was 71.68%.
