Poster on Reducing Camp Nou's Ecological Footprint Wins Prize at 4th Sustainability Conference

A group of students from the Faculty of Education took home first prize in the poster category at the 4th UIC Interdisciplinary Sustainability Conference for their proposal to reduce Camp Nou's ecological footprint.

According to the study presented by the students, some 14,860 kW of energy is consumed each time a match is held at Camp Nou, i.e. the equivalent to the amount used by a single family over a period of thirty-three months. The prize-winners at the Interdisciplinary Conference, all third-year students completing their Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education, suggest this impact can be minimized by installing solar panels and playing matches during the day, rather than in the evening.

The 4th UIC Interdisciplinary Sustainability Conference, held under the theme "How can we reduce our ecological footprint?", took place on Thursday. Featuring the collaboration of experts from a variety of fields, it consisted of a series of panel discussions, talks and workshops, all exploring the state of the planet and ways in which society can foster integral human development. As part of the conference, students submitted proposals to reduce society's ecological footprint, in the shape of projects that were exhibited on the university campus. The concept of sustainability was discussed throughout the conference, especially in terms of its social and educational facets.
