President of Catalonia's High Court Inaugurates the UIC's New Mock Courtroom
On Wednesday, 8 October 2014, Miguel Ángel Gimeno, the President of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), inaugurated the new mock courtroom at the Faculty of Law of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC). The event was held as part of the official inauguration of the 2014-2015 academic year.
The Faculty of Law's new mock courtroom was specially designed for students to gain practice with legal processes and work on moot court activities. As explained by Dr. Javier Junceda, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, "Many members of our teaching staff are legal practitioners, so our students can take advantage of their experience. Moreover, 85% of our exams are held as oral court sessions, which guarantees strict assessment criteria and encourages students to develop the speaking skills they'll have to display when they finish their studies and start working in the profession. I'm convinced that this new mock courtroom will be very useful. We're also honoured that Judge Miguel Ángel Gimeno was able to inaugurate it”.
The event took place after the official inauguration of the 2014-2015 academic year with Mr. Gimeno in attendance as guest authority. The inaugural lecture was given by Prof. Emilio Lora-Tamayo, the President of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
