The president of Hungary’s Mária Kopp Institute for Demography and Families, Tünde Fűrész, visits UIC Barcelona to establish a partnership with the IESF

Tünde Fűrész, president of Hungary’s Mária Kopp Institute for Demography and Families, visited the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF) at UIC Barcelona on Wednesday 5 February.

Fűrész met with the director of the IESF, Montserrat Gas, and the director of the Family Policies Observatory, Consuelo León, with a view to establishing a partnership between the two institutions, exchanging good practice in the field of family policy and engaging in joint research.

The Mária Kopp Institute for Demography and Families was founded by the Hungarian government in 2018. Its objectives include contributing to improving the birth rate, supporting large families and developing suitable and effective responses to demographic challenges. It also strives to ensure the well-being of young families through employment and housing policies.

During her visit, Fűrész explained that, in Hungary, “family policies are not just a strategic national issue, but also a cross-cutting line of government present in all economic measures”.
