Prof. Carlos Espaliú Describes Reality of 21st-Century Slavery at International Conference

UIC Barcelona Law Faculty professor Carlos Espaliú participated in the 2nd International Legal Conference on Contemporary Forms of Slavery on Thursday, 19 March 2015, in Granada.

Carlos Espaliú's paper was on the definition of slavery in international law at the beginning of the 21st century. Last month, Prof. Espaliú published an article on the same topic in the scientific journal Revista Electrónica de Estudios Internacionales. In the article, he wrote, “It is necessary to examine the concept of slavery in international law to see if it adapts to the new forms of human exploitation that have arisen”.

The International Legal Conference on Contemporary Forms of Slavery was organized by the Faculty of Law at the Universidad de Granada and held on Thursday and Friday, 19-20 March 2015. The aim of the conference was to provide a forum for debate, discussion and analysis of 21st-century slavery, a very serious world social problem in terms of human rights.
