Professor Francesc Cano: News Director of Catalunya Ràdio

The Governing Council of the Catalan Broadcasting Corporation (CCMA) released the names of the News Directors of Televisió de Catalunya (TV3) and Catalunya Ràdio on Wednesday, 16 May 2012. Francesc Cano, a professor in the UIC Faculty of Communication Sciences, will take over as News Director of the Catalunya Ràdio Broadcasting Group, while Jaume Peral will be the News Director of Televisió de Catalunya.

Corporation (CCMA) approved the appointments of the News Directors of Televisió de Catalunya (TV3) and Catalunya Ràdio and the Director of Programming of Catalunya Ràdio on Wednesday, 16 May 2012. Jaume Peral will
take over as News Director of Televisió
de Catalunya, replacing Rosa Marqueta, who has held the position since 2007. In addition, Francesc Cano, a professor in the UIC Faculty of Communication Sciences, will take
over as News Director of the Catalunya
Ràdio Broadcasting Group,
replacing Agustí Esteve, who has been the Director since 2008. The Governing
Council has also appointed Jordi
Català as the new Director
of Programming of the Broadcasting Group, a position held by Santi Carreras since 2008.

Francesc Cano i Castells is a professor of Communications and Public Opinion
as well as Radio Language Theory and Technique at the UIC. After earning a
degree in Journalism from Universitat
Ramon Llull, he joined Catalunya Ràdio in 2000, where he has worked as a journalist for the group’s four
stations. He worked on the programme “Primeres veus” for the
station Catalunya Música and was the content coordinator for Catalunya Cultura. He was also one of the voices of the Catalan news
station, Catalunya Informació, and is currently the director of the news programme “Catalunya vespre”. He is also the founder and director of the website it-intransit.eu,
aimed at foreign correspondents working in Spain, the international academic
community and the diplomatic community.
