Professors Jaume Camps and Ignasi de Bofarull publish a book that reflects on pupil’s family and school lives

Called Habilidades para la vida. Familia y escuela (Life Skills. Family and School) the book underlines the importance of educating pupils personalities in classrooms and in the home

Faculty of Education professors Jaume Camps and Ignasi de Bofarull published a book recently, in conjunction with Dykinson publishers, titled Habilidades para la vida. Familia y escuela. The book is particularly aimed at teacher training in pre-primary and the early years of primary education.

Over ten chapters, the authors reflect on the key aspects of school and family that help pupils to grow, not only in terms of habits related to studying and knowledge, but also in terms of personality and values.  “To achieve this objective, it is necessary to spend time with pupils in the classroom, and also provide support at home” explained the authors.  In the book, Jaume Camps and Ignasi de Bofarull cover issues such as parenting, working as a teacher, healthy habits, cognitive and socioemotional development and self-regulation, among others.  Therefore, the reflection moves towards the idea of a moral education that places an emphasis on civic values among pupils.

To help shape this publication, Jaume Camps and Ignasi de Bofarull called on experts from other fields, such as humanist Asunción Verdera, psychologist Cristina Luna, healthy eating expert Astrid Barqué, teacher Andrés Bello, and specialists in neuroscience and education, Anna Carballo and Marta Portero.
