A project about immersive and interactive experiences, winner of UIC Barcelona's Driving Ideas Forward entrepreneurship competition

The SetGo initiative, the brainchild of student Pablo Perdigo from the Faculty of Communication Sciences, alongside Albert Escolar and Christian López, has been named ‘Best project in cultural and creative industries’

“The idea came to us during the first lockdown, more than a year and a half ago, and then we transformed it into a project”, said the student from the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Communication Sciences Pablo Périgo. Now, months later, SetGo, the project he launched with help from Albert Escolar (University of Barcelona) and Christian López (Pompeu Fabra University), has won the ‘Best Project in Cultural and Creative Industries’ Award from of the UIC Barcelona Driving Ideas Forward entrepreneurship competition.

SetGo is an initiative that aims to develop a technology platform for travellers around the world, allowing them to record their adventures and share them online with other users, who can in turn share these experiences. This is a global project based on immersive and interactive experiences. The project “democratises destinations and is a point of convergence between different cultures,” said Périgo, who stresses how useful it is that each of the three founders at SetGo have “different yet complementary backgrounds and knowledge”. The student, who has just graduated in Advertising and Public Relations, is also clear about the turning point that Driving Ideas Forward represents: “This recognition opens the door for us to take the project forward, so now our job is to get our heads down and make it happen.”

The Driving Ideas Forward entrepreneurship competition is an initiative devised and promoted by the University’s Vice-rectorate for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, with the support of the UIC Barcelona Innovation Hub. It was created with a view to discovering and publicising business projects to help drive the creation of innovative companies.

In this first year, a total of 27 entrepreneurial projects were submitted and assessed by a jury of UIC Barcelona lecturers and professors, who evaluated their degree of creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation and business performance.
