“The Race of the Future”, winner of Comunika 2018

The project submitted by second-year upper secondary education students Natàlia Pérez, Adri Borillo and Arantxa Novo earned the winners a 50% discount on their university tuition fees.

The project “The Race of the Future” was recently proclaimed winner of the 2018 Comunika Award. The individuals behind the camera, script and production of this project are second-year upper secondary education students Natàlia Pérez, Adri Borillo and Arantxa Novo, who, along with UIC Barcelona student Marc Borrás, prepared the video that earned them 50% off their university tuition fees.

The three second-year upper secondary education students came to the Barcelona Campus one Saturday morning and put together this audiovisual piece as a team and from scratch, with the help of lecturers from the Faculty of Communication Sciences. This experience served to introduce the future university students to the essence of audiovisual communication and helped them see what it is like to work in the UIC Barcelona TV and editing studios.

Aside from the winners, seven other teams also took part in the Comunika 2018 contest. These included the project “UIC Barcelona #more than a university” by Laia Vila, Judit Conde and Marta Virgos, together with intern Max Schmid, who took home the second-place prize: a sports video camera.

The other projects were: “People are stories”, by Marc Alabau, Cristian Pérez and Adrián Rodríguez; “Create your own story”, by Rubén Torres, Clara Becerra, Cristina Roig and UIC Barcelona students Elisabeth Lorda and Berta Carbó; “You are not alone”, by Patricia Rocamora, Patricia Gonzalez, Michelle Blanco, Ariadna Lorente and intern Roger Costello; “Dreams”, by Júlia Viza, Albert Muns, Enric Lizano and Marc Picó, along with Faculty student Andrés de la Portilla; and, lastly, “Dream as a team, grow as a team”, by Gerard Guardiola, Cesar Mestre, Sergio Velilla and Alex Piaget, with the help of Elisabeth Lorda.

The jury was made up of vice-dean and lecturer in the Faculty of Communication Sciences Elisa Regadera; journalist and Faculty lecturer Marta Narberhaus; Faculty lecturer Juan Pablo Huizi; and filmmaker and technical manager of the University’s Digital Media Studios Oscar Sueiro.easta y responsable técnico del Digital Media Studio de la Universidad, Óscar Sueiro.
