Researcher Marc Grau and Lecturer Victor Küppers Give Keynote Address at International Day of Families Event

Marc Grau, a researcher at the Institute of Advanced Family Studies, and Victor Küppers, a lecturer in the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, recently gave the talk “Family and Business: Shared Values” at an event organized by the Ministry of Social and Family Welfare on the occasion of the International Day of Families. The event was held in Moja Palace.

The speech was the centrepiece of the event, which was organized by the Secretariat for the Family of the government of Catalonia. The speakers tried to give the audience a practical perspective on how to face new challenges with the aim of reaching the still-distant goal of reconciling family life and business based on the approach that does not limit productivity, but seeks ways of generating loyalty among the company’s human capital to create added value for the company.

The research study they discussed attempts to reconcile professional and family life, which are often considered competing interests. The speakers said that the two should be reconciled to generate greater long-term benefits on both sides. In this relationship, they argued, both could benefit or both could get hurt. The speakers thus departed from the traditional concept of two opposing interests and took the approach of looking for common goals.
