Researchers at the Faculty of Education Sciences get Erasmus + funding to promote STEAM competences and sustainability among children aged between 3 and 6

The project is led by Dr Mariana Fuentes and will run from November this year until spring 2024

Researchers from the Consolidated Research Group on Sustainability and Integral Education (SEI) from the Faculty of Education Sciences have just won Erasmus + support to undertake a project aimed at the development of educational materials and resources that promote STEAM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) and sustainability among children aged between 3 and 6. The project, entitled “Kids Lab for Sustainability” (Klab4Sustainability) is coordinated by Professor Mariana Fuentes with participation from researchers Sílvia Albareda, Carme Balaguer, Monica Fernández and Maite Fuertes.

The initiative follows on from another Erasmus+ project entitled “Kitchen Lab for Kids” through which resources were created to promote STEM skills in child education through cooking. This new project also incorporates artistic competence and sustainability and will be carried out between November of this year and May 2024 with funding of approximately 60 thousand euros.

Both projects are led by Ignatianum University in Krakow, with participation from LUMSA University (in Rome), the Polytechnic University of Milan, Dublin City University and UIC Barcelona.
