On Friday 15 June, the Sant Cugat Campus hosted the 1st Conference on Teaching Innovation on the Health Campus, which included talks by teaching staff from all health disciplines and a debate-colloquium on new teaching techniques in the health industry.
Dr Lluís Giner, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, was the person charged with opening the first edition of this event. Afterwards, the heads of the six departments from the field of Health shared their experience in teaching innovation: Dr Concha León spoke about the use of experiential workshops associated with clinical practice in Medicine; Dr Antoni M. Lluch discussed the success of the Dentistry Mentoring Programme; and Dr Ernesto Herrera showed the effectiveness of a method for teaching proprioceptive rehabilitation techniques to Physiotherapy students. Jordi Castillo, a lecturer of Nursing, underscored the high level of effectiveness of simulation for basic CPR training and research; elsewhere, Dr Javier Jiménez explained the value of the Socrative application in Microbiology lectures; and Dr Luis M. Delgado discussed the success of joint practicums between subjects from the Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering and other bachelor’s degrees on the Sant Cugat Campus. The first part of the conference finished with the debate-colloquium entitled “New Teaching Techniques in the Field of Health”, moderated by Dr Àngels Martos and Dr Lluís Giner.
The more than 40 teachers and researchers who took part in the 1st Conference on Teaching Innovation had the opportunity to attend a lecture delivered by Dr Miguel Zabalza, titled “New Approaches in University Teaching Innovation: From the Integrated Curriculum to Didactic Choreographies”. Before the end of the event, members of the Teaching Innovation Classroom presented the results of a survey undertaken to gain insight into the tools for innovation at UIC Barcelona.
The Faculty of Dentistry is, in cooperation with the Teaching Innovation Classroom, the faculty charged with promoting this initiative, which is aimed at teaching staff and researchers from all the areas of health taught at the University: Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Basic Sciences and Bioengineering.
