School of Architecture to Focus on «Green Diagonal» Corridor as Central Theme of Final Degree Project

The proposed theme for this year's final degree project at the UIC's ESARQ School of Architecture is the 'Green Diagonal' corridor. Once again, the final degree project being undertaken in the classrooms is based around reflections on the city of Barcelona. The central theme of the project is the city's public space, and in particular, the ?Green Diagonal? corridor.

The “Green Diagonal” concept arose from reflections made
by Alday Jover's team during
the Camí Comtal Park
competition, which will be analysed over the course of the academic year. The
project presented by Alday Jover's team
considered the Camí Comtal Park as part of
the green corridor that will one day cross the city, connecting the sea to the
mountains, and will act as a counterbalance to the city's other great corridor,
Avinguda Diagonal.
The plan will link the two major green spaces that define the city, the beaches
and the Collserola Park.

On this occasion, the students of projects 7 and 8 are
grouped into two workshops run by professors Miquel Lacasta and Jordi Badia. In
the second term, a third workshop will be conducted by a group from the
University of Virginia, led by Margarita Jover.

The project will involve three distinct areas of the “Green
Diagonal” corridor. Miquel Lacasta's
workshop will focus on the area around the Ciutadella Park and Jordi Badia's workshop will focus on the area to
the left of the La Sagrera neighbourhood.

The final degree project workshop has launched a blog that will
feature the class content, the students' work, useful resources, articles on
the locations and all information of interest on the course.
